“If you don’t know how, we will teach you.” Master classes on folk arts and crafts are held in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug

The master class is held at the Ethnocultural Center of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug as part of the autumn training cycle on traditional craftsmanship. The participants of the master class came from the national village of Nelmin Nos to sew their own panitsa of the Malozemelskaya tundra. Women are engaged in the ensemble “Maimbava” (“Joy”).

“When I found out that there would be a sewing master class here, I immediately agreed and signed up. It turns out very well. I sewed my first panic about three years ago,” said craftswoman Maria Taleeva. — The most difficult thing is the ornament. It needs to be cut and sewn carefully, not to go beyond the edges.

Alexander Ledkov is a master of wood and horn. Under his strict guidance, the workshop participants made tools for weaving belts and items for storing needles from deer antler.

— The Department of Internal Policy of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug organized master classes for residents of the district’s settlements, and specialists from the Ethnocultural Center conduct them. He provided the participants with materials and showed them how to work with tools and equipment. Then they planed, sawed, and drilled holes themselves. “We did everything that was planned,” said Alexander Ledkov, a specialist at the ethnocultural center of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. — The Malozemelskaya tundra’s clothing is not so heavily decorated, the ornaments there are simple, but at master classes we make ornaments with beautiful deer antlers. The most beautiful women will now be in the village of Nelmin Nos.

— Anyone can come to the master class, regardless of their skills, even those who do not know how to use a sewing machine. If you don’t know how, we will teach you. The participants do everything themselves, we just correct, show and guide them,” said Margarita Latysheva, a leading specialist in the methodology of club work at the ECC of the NAO.

Nelmin Nos is located in the Malozemelskaya tundra; accordingly, women sew the panic of this tundra. This week, new participants of the master class will sew outerwear of the Kaninskaya tundra.
