The Nenets Autonomous Okrug took part in the environmental action for the 16th time. This year, the results of observations of 96 people were entered into the database. Among them are 83 students from schools No. 1, 4, 5, named after A.P. Pyrerka and the village of Iskateley. This is reported on the page Nenets Museum of Local Lore VKontakte.

Young ornithologists conducted observations in the center of Naryan-Mar, in the Kachgort microdistricts, near Karmanovskaya Kurya and in the suburban forest, as well as in the village of Iskateley and the Village and Fakel microdistricts.

During the observations, migrating flocks of geese, swans, and ducks were encountered. There were especially many geese (bean goose and barnacle geese) – 608 individuals, house sparrows – 406, rock pigeons – 162, hooded crows – 155, common gulls – 111.

In the suburban forest there were bee-eaters, waxwings, brown-headed chickadees, field thrushes, as well as spruce crossbills and great spotted woodpeckers.

“This is one of the best indicators during the observation period in the district.” Thank you to everyone who took part in the World Bird Watching Days 2023, because the results of such a massive simultaneous count are of great scientific importance. We are waiting for bird lovers next year,” the museum noted.
