Today the erection of the domes on the drums of the Arctic Cathedral began. Before raising and installing them, they were consecrated and blessed by Bishop Jacob of the Naryan-Mar and Mezen diocese.

The consecration ceremony was attended by Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug Yuri Bezdudny, head of LUKOIL-Komi Oleg Tretyakov, top officials of the region and residents of the district.

It is symbolic that the erection of the domes takes place on the Day of Remembrance of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
“This is a significant event for our entire lives, because the dome symbolizes the pinnacle of existence, the connection of earth with heaven, of every human soul. The temple symbolizes man; it is not just walls, stones and bricks, it is our spiritual unity. It is significant that the ascension of the domes takes place during a great holiday for our entire homeland, on the Day of Remembrance of St. Sergius of Radonezh,” noted Bishop Jacob of Naryan-Mar and Mezen.

Residents of the city were looking forward to this event. Dozens of Naryanmar residents watched how the First Arctic Assumption Cathedral grew and became more beautiful.
“At these moments, our city and land are being transformed, and people are becoming closer to God. Congratulations to everyone on this holiday! – said Bishop Jacob of the Naryan-Mar and Mezen diocese.

As we wrote earlier, the cathedral under construction according to the traditional design of a five-domed temple. The main golden dome symbolizes Christ. The other four smaller domes are blue with gold eight-pointed stars.
The cross of the golden dome will be the highest point in the city and surrounding area. The top of the main cross of the Cathedral will reach a height of 40 meters.

The Arctic Cathedral will be a spiritually educational center. It is conceived as an architectural complex that will house a conference hall, storage, two small showrooms, a sacristy, an Arctic museum, and an office. There are also altar spaces and a hall with a church bench. The altar part will be separated by a multi-tiered iconostasis, which will be located along the entire height of the building.
Let us recall that, as part of an agreement with the district, LUKOIL allocated funds for the construction of the cathedral in 2019–2021.
