The International Humanitarian and Educational Center “Poles of the Earth” and the IGO “Association of Polar Explorers” are holding a federal competition among children “The Arctic and Me.” About it reports Department of Education, Culture and Sports of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

— The Arctic is different for everyone: it is a harsh region consisting of endless icy tundras, it is giant icebreakers and polar aviation, it is the beauty of the northern lights and untouched nature, it is a region rich in useful resources, it is a land of ancient cultures of indigenous peoples. The Arctic is so exciting and diverse that everyone can find something of their own in it. The uniqueness of each person’s perception will allow one to look at the Arctic from different sides and points of view, and will help increase the involvement of schoolchildren in the study of the Far North. The competition will allow you to look at the work of a teacher through the eyes of children, noted the organizers of the competition.

The competition is held in three categories:

• For primary school from 1st to 4th grade – Drawing competition about the Arctic.

• For high school from 5th to 9th grade – Essay on the topic “Arctic professions.”

• For high school from grades 10 to 11 – Video on the topic “The most striking fact or impression about the Arctic.”

Competition entries must be sent to the email address: before November 6. The results will be announced by November 25.

The best works will be presented at the XIII International Forum “The Arctic: Present and Future”, and also published on the official resources of the Association of Polar Explorers. The authors will be invited to the award ceremony, which will take place in December as part of the forum in St. Petersburg.
