The head of the Department of Natural Resources, Ecology and Agro-Industrial Complex, Albert Chabdarov, announced preparations for the slaughter campaign at the weekly operational meeting of the Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Yuri Bezdudny.

Let us remind you that, on behalf of the head of the region, JSC “Myasoprodukty” increased the refrigeration and storage capacity for storing meat; the construction of a 500-ton refrigerator is actively underway, which will replace outdated equipment.

In order to strengthen the food security of the district for this year’s slaughter campaign, on behalf of Governor Yuri Bezdudny, Meat Products JSC launched new refrigerators with a capacity of 200 tons. In addition, storage capacity has been optimized. This will allow us to accept full meat from reindeer herders this year.

“This year, more than 20 reindeer herding farms, including private ones, are preparing to conduct a slaughter campaign. In total, it is planned to prepare 1300–1350 tons of meat; to achieve this goal, we are currently starting active preparations. On the eve of the slaughter campaign, we will hold a meeting where we will hear reports from all reindeer herding farms on the readiness of slaughter stations and on developing logistics schemes, but the main thing is that we fulfilled the order of the head of the region to expand refrigeration capacity. Thanks to this, the district meat processing plant is ready to accept the entire planned volume. Last year a reconstruction was carried out, capacity was increased by 200 tons. In addition, by mid-winter we expect that we will have put into operation a refrigerator for an additional 500 tons. The main task is to ensure a stable supply of raw materials to the meat processing plant and operate at full scale throughout the next year,” said Albert Chabdarov.

He also said that the demand for meat processing plant products has increased significantly compared to last year.

— We are seeing an increase in demand for meat processing plant products. Mainly on the domestic market. In this regard, the meat processing plant is requesting an increase in the volume of supplies of raw materials from reindeer herding farms,” said the head of the Department of Natural Resources, Ecology and Agro-Industrial Complex of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

Governor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug Yuri Bezdudny noted that the meat processing plant must receive meat of impeccable quality.

— The meat processing plant has built refrigeration facilities, now it’s up to the reindeer herders to fill these capacities with reindeer meat. Last year we decided to increase the purchase price for meat and at the same time supported reindeer herders with an increased subsidy for their own processing. I know that the reindeer herders are very happy and ready to hand over raw materials to the meat processing plant. Here it is important to work out all the logistics chains so that the venison reaches the meat processing plant of impeccable quality, and further products are at the highest level,” said Yuri Bezdudny.
