The United States has blocked in the United Nations Security Council a statement condemning Algeria after the death of more than one hundred Palestinians in an Israeli attack while they were waiting to receive a humanitarian aid convoy in Gaza City, located in the north of Gaza Strip, an incident that also left more than 700 injured, according to the Gazan authorities, controlled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

The Palestinian permanent representative to the UN, Riad Mansurhas indicated that fourteen of the fifteen members of the UN Security Council supported the statement, with the exception of the United States, as reported by the Qatari television network Al Jazeera. Deputy US Representative Robert Wood has argued that Washington “doesn’t have all the facts on the ground.”

“That’s the problem,” said Wood, who assured that US authorities are trying to verify “the circumstances surrounding the deaths of these people” to try to see if it is possible to “find a language that everyone agrees with.” OK”.

It is not the first time that a conviction has been blocked

The United States has already blocked several calls in the past for a ceasefire in Gaza, the target of an Israeli military offensive following the October 7 attacks by Hamas.

The authorities of the Strip have denounced a “massacre” by the Israeli Army, which had attacked people who were crowding next to a convoy of trucks arriving with food. For its part, the Palestinian Authority condemned the “atrocious massacre” and stressed that “it is an integral part of the genocidal war by the occupation government against our people.”
