José Manuel Albares sees the “incident” with Israel settled and says that Belarra is not an “authorized voice” to talk about foreign policy

José Manuel Albares, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, has terminated the incident with Israel by the statements of some members of the Government regarding the Hamas attack, while emphasizing that the only “authorized voices“to talk about foreign policy are the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and himself.

Albares revealed that on Monday afternoon he spoke with the Israeli ambassador to Spain, Rodica Radian-Gordonto convey his “deep displeasure” at the statement issued by the legation, in which “certain elements” of the Executive were accused of aligning themselves with Hamas terrorism.

At the press conference after the Minister council, Albares has described said statement as an “unfriendly gesture”, to which the Government responded with one from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs calling the Israeli accusations “falsehoods”. Thus, the minister has considered “settled” what he has described as “a specific incident” with Israel.

“Each minister has his “perimeter” and manages “determined policies”

On the other hand, the minister did not want to evaluate the statements made in recent days by the Minister of Social Rights and leader of Podemos, Ione Belarrawhich among other things has asked to take Israel before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the alleged war crimes that were being committed in Gaza.

The minister has made it clear that each minister has his “perimeter” and manages “determined policies”. “As far as foreign policy is concerned, it is very evident that there are only two authorized voices, that of the President of the govermentof course, and that of the Minister of Foreign Affairs,” he stressed, emphasizing that this is something known worldwide because it happens in all countries and therefore there is no need to explain it.

Belarra affirms that “Israel ignores the pain of the Palestinians”

The general secretary of Podemos and acting minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, stated this Tuesday “that no one denies the pain” for Hamas attacks on Israeli civilians, but criticized “how Israel ignores the pain of the Palestinians.”

Ione Belarrain an interview on “Catalunya Ràdio”, pointed out that “no one denies the pain over the attacks and deaths of Israeli civilians, that is something that everyone agrees on”, but denounced “how Israel ignores the pain of the Palestinians, how it goes over the more than 2,600 Palestinians murdered, bombed in the Gaza Strip in the last weeks”.

“I think that at this moment there is no room for equidistance and I think that at this moment it must be said clearly that the State of Israel is an occupying State,” he asserted. “It is a conflict that did not start last week, that has been going on for decades and in which the main attacks, the main deaths are on the Palestinian side,” he assured.
