TechCrunch: Durov’s arrest boosted Telegram downloads

Arrest Pavel Durov spurred a surge of interest in his product not only in Europe but also in the United States. This has led to an increase in the number of Telegram downloads, TechCrunch reports.

According to the ranking of the best apps in the US (excluding games), Telegram rose from 18th to 8th place. This is the highest ranking the app has reached in the US since January 1, 2023. Telegram also took the second place in the US social network ranking.

In France, Telegram became the most popular app in the Social Networking category in the App Store, taking first place. It also became the third most popular app in France.

Meanwhile, Durov’s security guard and assistant were released after questioning. This information is confirmed by Le Figaro, citing sources.

And the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it demands that France urgently provide its citizen Pavel Durov with access to all necessary consular services.
