• Silicones. They form a film on the skin, preventing the removal of toxins. Silicones are used by manufacturers to prevent the product from hardening, but their presence in the composition can lead to skin sensitivity and poisoning.
• Methylparaben. It is a preservative used in creams to increase shelf life. Methylparaben can cause itching, allergies and even cancer, and is banned in some countries.
• BHT. This antioxidant and stabilizer is used like vitamin E and slows down oxidation processes, extending the shelf life of the gel. However, BHT can cause endocrine disruptions, irritations and allergic reactions.
• DEA. Surfactant DEA is used to stabilize foam and disrupts kidney function. Excessive amounts of it in the composition can lead to peeling and dry skin.
• EDTA. This component preserves the appearance of the product and makes it stable, but increases skin permeability and can cause irritation.
