Nutritionist Lazurenko: Sugar in Pharmacy Sweets Negatively Affects Metabolism

A person may develop metabolic problems due to the consumption of such sweets from the pharmacy as hematogen or ascorbic acid. As it turns out, this can happen due to the large amount of sugar in the composition. This was reported to the news agency NewsInfo.ru dietitian, endocrinologist, nutritionist and therapist of the medical center “Medgorod” Natalia Lazurenko.

The first thing the expert asks to pay attention to is the composition. It determines how many nutrients you can get from a particular product. However, there is a chance that the sweets sold in specialized healthcare organizations will not contain the amount of vitamin C needed by the human body or such an important microelement, the main component of hemoglobin, which carries oxygen in the blood throughout the body, as iron. Natalia Lazurenko explained that such sweets are more likely to be a biologically active supplement than some serious pharmaceutical drug.

The expert emphasized that in addition to the lack of sufficient amounts of essential microelements in such sweets, they usually contain a considerable amount of sugar. This refers to any type of sugar, be it added sugar or, for example, fructose. The presence of this sugar, which is usually added to confectionery products in large quantities, can lead to excessive amounts of the product in the diet. If a person overdoes it with the consumption of these products, the likelihood of problems with metabolism increases, both in fat and carbohydrate metabolism.

The nutritionist concluded that if a person wants to fill his body with various vitamins, then he should refuse to buy candy from the pharmacy. Moreover, such a product cannot be called a healthy snack either, added Natalia Lazurenko.
