CARACAS, August 26. /TASS/. Co-founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov was detained as part of a policy of maximum pressure and blackmail against alternative media and social networks. This is the opinion expressed by the president Venezuela Nicolas Madurospeaking at the opening of the XI Extraordinary Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the Americas.

“We are live on social networks, on alternative media <…>, on Telegram, despite the fact that its head has been arrested as part of this policy of persecution, maximum pressure, blackmail and arm-twisting against social networks and alternative media in the world,” the Venezuelan leader said. His speech was broadcast by the TV channel Venezuelan Television.
