Netanyahu rejects Hamas’ latest ceasefire proposal, approves start of Rafah offensive

The prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahuhas rejected this Friday the latest proposal presented by the Hamas for a ceasefire in Gaza Strip and has approved an Army plan to launch a ground offensive against the city of Rafahlocated on the border with Egypt.

Netanyahu’s office has indicated that the Palestinian Islamist group’s demands “remain absurd” and has confirmed the sending of a delegation to Qatar to continue diplomatic contacts to try to reach an agreement, although it has approved the offensive plan against Rafah, amid warnings from the international community against this possibility.
