Russians win gold in canoe doubles at world championships

Russian athletes Zakhar Petrov And Ivan Dmitriev became world champions in canoe-double 1000-meter race, which took place in Samarkand (Uzbekistan), RBC Sport reports.

In the final swim they showed a time of 3 minutes 41.510 seconds. Silver medals went to Hungarian athletes Balazs Adolf And To Daniel Fejes with a result of 3 minutes 42.12 seconds. Third place was taken by the Ukrainians Yuri Vandyuk And Pavel Borsukshowing a time of 3 minutes 42.43 seconds.
Russian and Belarusian rowers are competing at the World Championships as neutrals.
Zakhar Petrov was one of 15 Russian athletes who competed in the recent Olympic Games in Paris. At the Olympics, the 22-year-old canoeist took fourth place in the 1000m singles and came fourth in the 500m doubles with Alexey Korovashkov.
