Ayuso will award Milei the Community Medal amid the tension with Pedro Sánchez

The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayusowill receive on Friday the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, to whom he will award the International Medal of the community, in what will be the only official meeting of the Argentine president within his new visit to Spain.

Milei’s spokesman, Manuel Adorni, who on Tuesday announced that there would be no meetings between the president and members of Pedro Sánchez’s Government, outlined this Wednesday an agenda that will be limited to the meeting with Ayuso and the reception, already at night, of a award granted by the Juan de Mariana Institute.

Spain is the first stop of a european tour which will also take Milei through Germany and Czech Republic, where the Argentine president will meet with the respective heads of government, Olaf Scholz and Petr Fiala. In the case of Scholz, Adorni has admitted that it will not be a typical bilateral meeting, but rather a more informal meeting.

Milei arrived in Madrid in mid-May, on a first visit that was limited in official terms to the presentation of a book, a meeting with businessmen and participation in a Vox event. At this event she starred in a fiery speech in which she attacked socialism and alluded to Sánchez’s wife, Begoña Gómez, and which led to a diplomatic crisis with Spain.

New reviews

Although the crisis is considered “settled” in Buenos Aires, Milei has reactivated his messages against Sánchez this week, coming out in defense of the journalist Vito Quiles and calling the president of the Spanish Government a “coward” for “sending” the ministers to insult him.

Milei has also accused Sánchez of trying to apply “the (Nicolás) Maduro model”, an allusion that his spokesperson has reaffirmed, alleging that the president is limited to alluding to an “ideology” that causes the hunger of his citizens.

“We believe that in Spain everything is being done to end the ‘starving’ people, that this is the ideology that is being implemented,” Adorni told reporters at his daily press conference.

All this despite the fact that the spokesperson for the Executive, Pilar Alegría, called on Milei on Tuesday after the Council of Ministers to maintain an attitude of “respect towards the institutions of this country and towards the Spanish people” during his imminent trip, whose agenda He said he had no evidence.
