Mad Money Torrent ~UPD~
Mad Money Torrent
I think that web pages will be the best place to share torrents on the web today. Thats one of the things that I really like about that vision: that torrents become a part of the web standard. Websites are places where people share content, and imatically theyre places where people share stuff thats large or like huge files that cant be emailed around. Thats the stuff that we want people to put on the web, because we want everyone to be able to use it. We dont want people to be stuck with the old web because the web isnt just about the way it was in the mid 90s, the web is about what people choose to put in it. So, if we can bring torrents into the web pages, that will be an important step forward.
Well, why I started to write about it is I was in that situation. Then I realized that if theres a bigger person behind me doing the same thing, it helps me a lot. I always thought, like I just work for myself; I have my independence, that makes me so much more free and I can do whatever I want. If I just started to share that, it could help someone else out there who was struggling, who did not know how to get out of that situation. So that happened, and I started to post more stuff on Twitter, just in my own little little thing, and then other people started to retweet it and liked it and I really got excited about that, and then other people started to share it and people started to retweet that, and then other people started to share that, and then suddenly I was generating traffic to my blog, and I could make money in that way too.
One of the biggest benefits for WebTorrent will be the immediate adoption by Web Developers. Web developers are the backbone of the Web, and they should all have easy access to the capabilities that BitTorrent provides, but they normally can’t. WebTorrent is an immediate benefit for Web Development in general, as well as Web Application developers who deal with peer-to-peer protocols. And that’s a significant market. As Web Developers, we aren’t used to coding around central servers, and most people won’t go to that extreme. The more web developers use Peer-to-Peer protocols, the more the other Web Developers will follow, and the more the users will follow, and the less likely web developers will use central servers. And central servers are like a GPL violation, they just outright don’t work well, and that’s what BitTorrent does, it just doesn’t work well for most purposes.
